Perry Mandera Finds Success in the Transportation Industry

If you’re unfamiliar with Perry Mandera, he is the Founder of Custom Companies, Inc, a highly successful transportation and logistics business headquartered in North Lake, IL. In the 30-years that Custom Companies has been in existence, it has enjoyed tremendous growth, attributing their success to their ability to leverage innovation, as means of differentiating themselves from other competitors. What does this mean, exactly? Well, the company employs a range of technologies that help streamline the transportation process, while also providing clients with unparalleled transparency when it comes to the overall transportation of their goods. The Custom Companies uses Dock Management System, which is a paperless technology that uses barcodes to efficiently move freight while minimizing delays. In addition, the Custom Companies also utilizes Warehouse Management System, software that allows clients to track their shipments. Lastly, the Custom Companies uses Cheetah Dispatch, software designed with the drivers in mind; this software makes it possible for drivers to access information like pickup times and proof of delivery documentation.

Perry Mandera realized his passion for the transportation industry at a very young age; the Chicago native, at the age of 23, learned first hand how to operate heavy trucking equipment while serving in the Marine Reserves, and in 1986, with a rudimentary knowledge of the industry, he founded Custom Companies. In 2000, Mandera was ranked top 100 American Transporation Executives and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Trucking Association, a non-profit, full-service trade association aimed at protecting the interest of the Illinois trucking industry (https://thenewsversion.com/2018/01/philanthropist-perry-mandera/).

In addition to his professional endeavors, Perry Mandera is very active in his community, donating generously to a number of causes. In fact, he founded Custom Cares Charities, which is a non-profit aimed at providing support to underprivileged kids; he is also very involved with the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation, where he sits on the Board of Directors (Weebly). If you’re unfamiliar with the foundation, it is a non-profit organization predicated on acquiring and distributing clothing, toys, and school supplies to needy children throughout Illinois. Although tremendously successful, Perry Mandera believes in giving back and finds true reward in helping the community that he himself grew up in.
