George Soros Fights against Authoritarianism

George Soros has made a name for himself because of his participation in a couple of worthy causes. The Hungarian-American has consistently fought for liberal democratic systems of governments. A veteran of these battles, Soros has spent almost his entire life struggling against authoritarianism on The 87-year-old businessman spent his childhood days under a nationalist pro-Nazi Hungarian regime before escaping to study in London and later making it big in America. According to the most recent estimates by Forbes, Soros is worth approximately $24.9 billion.

George Soros established what would later become Open Society Foundation in 1984. Among the earliest intentions of the foundation was to offer copy machines to libraries, universities and civil society groups in his soviet-dominated native to help them reprint banned publications.

Immediately after the fall of Berlin Wall, George Soros grabbed the opportunity to immerse himself into the old Warsaw Pact, as well as the ex-USSR. His advice came in handy during their transitory process to democracy and free markets. On 14th November, Politico reported that George Soros and his fellow rich liberals who donated tens of millions of dollars in support of Hillary Clinton gathered in Washington for a three-day closed-door meeting. The three-day investment conference was held in Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The meeting was sponsored by the Influential Democracy Alliance Donor Club and witnessed the appearances of leaders of the leading unions, liberal groups, and friends of the Institutional Left.

Being the first major meeting of the institutional left since the shocking trump’s win over Clinton, Politico suspected that the primary agenda was to devise the best way to fight against Trump. Some of the sessions delved on preparation for 2017 and 2018 elections, while others focused on opposing the Trump’s 100-day plan, referred to by the agenda as a terrifying assault on Obama’s achievements, and the progressive vision of the group for a just and equitable nation.
