The Chainsmokers Add A Diamond Single To Their Name

As a result of their work, Forbes ranked The Chainsmokers at #2 in their list of the highest-paid DJs in the world, earning more than acts like Steve Aoki, David Guetta, and Diplo. The duo consisting of Andrew Taggart (age 33) and Alex Pall (age 28) earned a total of $45.5 million in 2018 from their music and touring. The Chainsmokers are in the final stretch of their three-year deal with Wynn Nightlife, and are collecting checks in the mid six-figures. Memories…Do Not Open, their debut album, reached platinum status and was on top of the Billboard album charts. Alex Pall notes that he is curious to see what happens next.

A bit over two years after the release of “Closer” which featured Halsey, the single has been certified diamond in the United States as a result of shipments of more than 10 million units. The song became the biggest hit of both Halsey and The Chainsmokers. The news came from Instagram, after the two acts posted photos of their new plaques which showed that they now have a diamond single to their resume. The song was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2017, when “Closer” reached a seven-time platinum status. When it was released in the summer of 2016, the single reached the top of the Hot 100 chart, and it stayed at the top for longer than one could have predicted, and eventually was listed among the 4th longest-running #1 hits in the history of the United States.

“Closer” also garnered several awards and nominations, earning the first Grammy nomination for both Halsey and The Chainsmokers. Prior to the single’s release, The Chainsmokers already had a number of top 10 hits to their name, but the song propelled them to become an even bigger name in the music industry. Since the release of the single, the act released their debut album, and a new EP titled “Sick Boy”, along with a handful of new singles. The duo continues to blur the lines between genres, being influenced by genres such as pop music, indie, dance and hip-hop.

GoFundMe for Autism

Autism Rocks is a well-organized charity that was developed by Sanjay Shah accepting donations to increase awareness with autism. Autism Rocks is based off of private invite only concerts that are conducted by musicians in the music industry. Some of the musicians Sanjay Shah has worked with are Snoop Dogg, Drake, Prince and Michael Buble. During these concerts, they accept donations that help raise money for the charity. Shah is scheduled to work with many other famous music artists in the future and continues to work on the thriving success of the charity. He started a gofundme campaign to assist even further with the fundraising and donation process.

Shah began to dig deeply into the neurological condition, autism, after they received the news from the doctor that his youngest son has autism. Shah and his wife were shocked, and needless to say, they wanted to do everything in their power to help him in any way that they could. Autism isn’t a condition that has a cure and it’s not something that just goes away, so Shah had to come to this understanding. At first, he wasn’t exactly sure what he needed or wanted to do. He just knew that he wanted to help. His musician rapper friend Snoop Dogg stopped by his him in Dubai one afternoon, and over a cup of tea they discussed avenues of ways he could help raise awareness. In the past, Shah had been involved in the music industry, so it wasn’t a foreign thing to him. Snoop Dogg felt that he should get involved again, and so he did, and developed Autism Rocks.

The Go Fund Me campaign was started just recently to help with donations. They have been quite successful with the charity, and have been able to donate some of the money to Cambridge University. They conduct research on autism and help families, along with those that are diagnosed, cope with the condition.  Visit his Youtube page for more information about Sanjay and his endeavors.
