How Austin City’s Traffic Issues can be Solved

Most discussions about transport in Austin and its environs mostly dwell on the city. The recently concluded Williamson County Growth Summit gave stakeholders an opportunity to structure the region’s transportation challenges. The seminar’s panel comprised transport experts including Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s Executive Director Mike Heiligenstein, Uber Technologies Inc. Texas Affairs Director Leandre Johns, ArgoDesign’s Jared Ficklin, and Ride Scout LLC founder, Josephy Kopser.

The event was hosted at Sheraton Georgetown Hotel’s conference center. The discussion mainly focused on the role of technology in addressing transportation challenges in Austin and the world in general. While emphasizing that technologies such as ridesharing apps and driverless cars can radically transform transportation, Heiligenstein noted that the city of Austin should make more investments so that its transportation capacity can improve. This may include the construction of technologically-friendly roads. This is the only way that mobility challenges in the city can be countered.

Mr. Heiligenstein’s Contribution

Williamson County was praised for its efforts towards the enhancement of transport infrastructure. The experts similarly emphasized the flexibility of land-use and building codes. The commercialization of self-driven cars is likely to increase demand for smarter roads, something that needs to be considered by the relevant authorities. During the discussion, Heiligenstein, expressed that he is yet to be receptive towards the adoption of self-driven cars.

According to Heiligenstein, the city needs to focus more on roads due to the population boom that it has been experiencing in recent years. He predicted that the city’s State Highway 290 and US Highway 183 will need at least 12 lanes in coming years so that massive traffic congestion can be avoided. Ridesharing will also ease transport challenges in the city. Uber perfectly suits into this arrangement.

About Mike Heiligenstein

Mike is the executive director of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority. This is an autonomous agency that was established with the aim of improving transportation in the counties of Williamson and Travis. Its mission is to implement forward-looking transportation solutions, which help reduce traffic congestion. Mike is dedicated towards creating mobility choices that enhance economic vitality and quality of life.

Mr. Heiligenstein oversees the agency’s seven-member board of directors. Under his leadership, the authority has created partnerships with other agencies throughout the United States. These include private sector contractors who focus on supporting individual projects. Mike is also the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s president. He sits on the boards of notable organizations including the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.

A Quick Tip On Reputation Management

Gossip can be very destructive. People think that it is a lot of fun and it can be quite amusing to share these things with their friends. But the problem with gossip is that it is often an unfounded rumor or an exaggeration. By sharing these stories with friends, you are ruining their reputation in the community and their friendships. People might be less likely to invite her to social events as a result of this gossip. She might be fired from her job as a result of this rumor. The same can be said of managing one’s reputation on the Internet. For the entrepreneur, reputation management will probably be one of her central focuses. That is why Forbes offered this advice to professionals who want to improve their reputation.

Use Negative Reviews To Build Yourself Up

Negative reviews are often seen of as something that need to be combated. Almost as though you need to compel these dissatisfied customers to keep quiet. But quite the opposite is true. Dissatisfied customers should speak out. It is not as though they actively attempting to destroy the company. They are merely sharing an experience.

Many companies see dissatisfied customers as an opportunity to improve their service. They will gather all of the complaints and then actively look for ways to improve those shortcomings. As a result, they come a stronger company. That is why suggested that the entrepreneur Google herself. Find out what bad things people are saying and then try to fill those gaps.

Mike Heiligenstein Continues to Focus on Building Smarter Roads in Austin as the Population Rises

Central Texas Regional Mobility Agency’s (CTRMA) Executive Director, Mike Heiligenstein is devoted to implementing solutions to help reduce traffic congestion in Austin, Texas. He leads the agency for almost 14 years building roads and partnering with companies to development technology and build new roads. Mr. Heiligenstein expressed his opinion in December 2015 on My Statesman that the agency is prepared to provide mobility solutions that meet the demands of the growing population in the city and suburban areas. At the 2016 19th Annual Williamson County Growth Summit, he participated in a panel discussion to talk about how technology is transforming transportation. Although, new technologies are rapidly changing the infrastructure of transportation, he is confident building smarter roads is a necessity.

While Mike Heiligenstein serves as the Executive Director, CTRMA has completed the 183 Toll and 290 Toll roads. In 2015, the agency start building the MoPac Express Lanes to help manage the flow of traffic. The lanes will ultimately reduce traffic congestions on expressways and highways for people to commute to their desired destination in a timely manner. The agency is implementing technology solutions into future projects to make the roads safer for motorists and passengers. Plans are to embed fiber lines beside the 183 South project that’s under construction between US 290 and the airport.

CTRMA partnered with Metropia to develop a mobile traffic app to integrate with their traffic monitoring system and offer alternate routes for motorists in real-time when traffic is unbearable. A carpooling app is being created by the agency with the help of Carma to encourage share rides among commuters. It’s another solution Mike Heiligenstein helped to form to resolve traffic issues in Austin and surrounding areas. To reduce congestion on the roads caused by inoperative automobiles, the Highway Emergency Response Operator supports the agency by providing free roadside assistance to help with minor issues, such as a flat tire, for an example.

Mike Heiligenstein was elected by CTRMA’s Board of Directors to serve as Executive Director in 2003. The University of Texas graduate earned his Master’s degree in two majors, Business Administration and Government. An agency that started with no revenue and roadway projects under construction, has become a huge asset to Austin and motorists. Mr. Heiligenstein has primary control of their programs that are expected to grow revenue by 2020 that reaches $4 billion.

UK Vintners Offer Award Winning Wines

UK Vintners will disagree with the belief that the United Kingdom is not known as a wine producing area. Working vineyards have been in the UK for many years, while others were established as recently as 2011. Most occupy the southern half of England, but you can find vineyards as far north as the Shetland Islands.

Browsing the English Wine Producers web site, you may be surprised at the number of vineyards you’ll find; more surprising is that you’ll discover vintners producing award winning wines on a regular basis. Soil and climate in the UK lend themselves to grape varieties used in sparkling wines, but UK Vintners also produce still wines, allowing wine lovers or even the casual shopper to enjoy a wide selection of wonderful vintages.

In Sussex you’ll find Bolney Estate where you can choose from red, dry white, and rose still wines along with white, rose, and red sparkling wines. Among several awards dating back to 2005, their 2007 vintage of “Blanc de Blancs” won a Gold Outstanding Medal in 2012, and the Estate itself earned the IWSC (International Wine and Spirit Conference) “Wine Maker of the Year” award that same year. Wine can be purchased on the web site or at the vineyard.

Camel Valley Vineyards in Cornwall has been winning awards since 1993, including the UK Wine Maker of the Year Award in 2007. In existence since 1989, Camel Valley offers about a dozen choices, mostly in the sparkling wine category. There is also a selection of still wines, and all varieties are whites or roses. Their Pinot Noir vintages win awards on a regular basis, most recently in 2016. Shop while you are on a tour, or visit their web site.

The Langham Wine Estate in Dorset has been around since 1980, but serious wine production began in 2009. They feature sparkling wines, and their 2011 vintage “Blanc de Blancs” won gold medals in 2016, both from the IWSC and the IWC (International Wine Challenge). Shop in person or from their web site.

With this small sampling to get you started, take some time to explore the offerings of UK Vintners. For those of you who are wine enthusiasts, you will discover award winning vintages to fill your cellars for years to come. Those looking for a special occasion gift or just an accompaniment with dinner will be just as pleased.

Capital Group Investment Firm Is Highly Commended For Its Leadership

Janet Yang, a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) recently conducted a review of Capital Group, a portfolio management company based in Los Angeles that specializes in fixed income and equity funds and services both large corporations and individual investor clients. Yang’s overall analysis graded the firm with an A, taking into account their overall culture and fund management structure as well as the men in charge of operations. She especially commended the leadership of Rob Lovelace, Darcy Kopcho and Tim Armour, portfolio management specialists who are masters at executing investment strategies.

She commends the firm for its use of a multimanager fund system, a method that’s allowed for greater diversity in investments as more than one manager can manage parts of a fund and offset any losses with gains. Also, Armour has led Capital Group to becoming more open to interviews with the media and putting forth reports on how portfolios are managed and other tidbits of information that investors should know about. In addition, most investors are pleased to know that portfolio managers and analysts are usually tenured at Capital Group for quite a long period, and changes in management don’t happen that often. Tim Armour himself is an example of that.

Armour has been a very successful portfolio manager all throughout his tenure with Capital Group. He attended a small private college in Vermont, Middlebury College where he got his bachelor’s in economics. But it was enough for Capital Group to notice and Timothy Armour began his career at the company about 33 years ago as a company associate.

He did very well in the program and got promoted to equity investment analyst, a position managing the portfolios of clients in both telecom and special service industries. Timothy Armour would later become a senior portfolio manager where much of his work has been focused on, and then became head of the firm’s Research and Management Company and Management Committee, and is now CEO of the entire company.

Armour was elected to be Chairman of Capital Group in July of 2015 after the passing of former Chairman Rothenberg. Armour regarded Rothenberg as a friend and a great leader but vowed to stay the course that he and the leaders before him had run in the company. Armour also helped Capital Group form a strategic partnership with Samsung Asset Management, a move he describes as being beneficial to the needs of Korean investors.
